Quite conversely, a significant proportion of African people have mutations which render them immune to the parasite such as sickle cell anaemia which confers considerable immunity. The only reason white people make up the minority of those infected is because of the where the mosquito vector and the malaria parasite can survive best, i.e. Africa and India/South East Asia.
