That is incorrect. Yes, there is a red plug located on top of the transmission that is accesable from the engine bay, but no the car doesnt need to be lifted. It is a sealed transmission so there is no dipstick sao you will not be able to check your fluid level. ACTUALLY YES YOU CAN CHECK THE FLUID LEVEL BUT YOU HAVE TO GO UNDER THE CAR AND LOOK FOR A SMALL BOLT ON THE SIDE IF THE TRANNY..PULL IT ALL THE WAY OUT IF FLUID COMES OUT ITS GOOD IF NOT LEAVE THE BOLT OUT AND FILL UNTILL IT DOES LEAK OUT.. REPLACE THE BOLT AND ITS FULL

If your 1993 Pontiac Grand Am will not shift into part, the transmission is probably seized up. The first step is ensuring the transmission fluid is not too low.
On the top of the transmission there is a red cap. that cap comes off and you add fluid through there.
