Yes being married (or even declaring your significant other as living in the household) absolutely does effect medicaid coverage as you must report income from ALL individuals residing in the home. In effect your income would be higher making it more difficult to qualify for Medicaid. And I can tell you that the difference between 1 person and 2 people when it comes to income qualifications is not a very big margin. I have known couples who have disabled children actually divorce and maintain their relationships outside the home in order to qualify so their child can get proper healthcare as insurance for disabled children is nearly non existent.

If you are on Medicaid is bill ever denied?

Medicaid may deny a claim for any one of a number of reasons: submitted too late; service not covered or needs prior approval; clerical error such as procedure code doesn't match description of service, etc. When this happens, you are responsible for the bill. However, in Illinois and perhaps other states, you may ask Medicaid to review the bill. In Illinois, you are not responsible for a bill if the provider accepted you as a Medicaid patient and Medicaid denied the claim due to the provider's error(s).

When mom died Medicaid sent a letter saying when dad died they were coming after our homeplace. Mom was not even on the deed. Can medicaid really get it?

Yes, Medicaid can get money from the sale of the home even if your mother was not on the deed. As long as she and your father were legally married, then Medicaid can go after the property to repay the money Medicaid spent for her care. Medicaid will not, however, kick your father out or take more money than they spent on your mother.

Does medicaid stop coverage for pregnancy if marriage occurs before the birth?

No. If you get married, I would wait till after the baby is born to change your information such as last name social security number, it will confuse medicaid or they might have to restart your medicaid .It is what I did. Hope this helps.

If you already have Medicaid and your pregnant and want to get married to the father of the baby will me and he baby still be able to have Medicaid?

After approval for medicaid due to pregnancy, both you and your unborn child should remain covered by medicaid through the duration of your pregnancy, plus two months past the month of childbirth. After the birth of your child, the baby should be eligible for newborn medicaid. Both parents of an eligible child may or may not become eligible for medicaid, depending on income and other factors.
