I don't believe so, or they should not like someone in with that kind of charge because then when they are a RN or LPN they are in charge of lots of drugs and they can start stealing them. It happen in a hospital I used to work for this nurse was addicted to just Marijuana and when she was put in charge of Narcs, and the person she had to give to was kind of out of it anyways she thought who would know. So No I would say no to this question.
yes
no, ask james kwan all about it
It would be very difficult. Even a misdemeanor DUI cause an already practicing nurse to lose her license. The law article below explains the connection between a DUI charge and careers in medicine.
While a misdemeanor might normally not prevent your licensure, the fact that it was drug related might. You will have to contact the state agency that licenses nurses in Iowa and ask.
Maybe. You have to pass a background check to become a nurse, and a lot of places will turn you away even if it's just a misdemeanor. It will probably be difficult to find a place to work that will accept your record.
NO
It might depend on the nature of the misdemeanor charge. If it was drug related in any way, it is possible. Only a call to your state's licensing agency can confirm this question.
It depends on the misdemeanor and on the state to which you are applying. It does help if a nurse is able to spell...
A charge nurse is typically the person in charge of a shift on a unit.
A Charge Nurse is over Staff Nurses. A Nurse Supervisor or Nurse Manager is over all Charge Nurses and Staff Nurses.
Yes, generally. It will depend on what misdemeanor, and the laws in your area. However, there really isn't a simple or quick answer to this question because it depends on a lot of factors like what the conviction was for, etc... The best thing to do is to talk to someone at the Board that handles nurse licensing in your state. A search of their website might also tell you one way or the other.
Someone should become a nurse because they want to. Nobody should become a nurse if they do not want to.
