There is no reason to believe this. Perhaps you would get small cuts, but it is unlikely to kill you.
Diamond is biologically inert and usually passes easily. Unless you ate an unusually large one (e.g. the hope diamond) it could not become stuck. Cut diamonds for jewelry have no sharp edges that might cause cuts. There is some chance that fine diamond dust may be able to migrate through the lining of the small intestine into the bloodstream, but even this is unlikely to cause harm.
