You need an auto locksmith-look for one that's mobile on Craigs under services.
It IS possible. Tell us more-- does it crank over? Have you checked anything else?
beCause you have activated the security anti theft deterent that keeps people from stealing your Oldsmobile or Buick that's why you have a chip on your key and that's why the car makes a dinging noise when the ignition is switched into the on position. beCause you have activated the security anti theft deterent that keeps people from stealing your Oldsmobile or Buick that's why you have a chip on your key and that's why the car makes a dinging noise when the ignition is switched into the on position.

I've had this problem where I couldn't start my car and it turns out it was because the security light was on. To fix it: Place the key in the ignition and turn it one rotation (so battery is on) then leave it in the ignition for 10 minutes. Restart car and security light will be off.... also car will start!
how do you fix security switch on a 2002 oldsmobile alero
check to see if your security light is on...could be passlock
To disarm the security system on a 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora, simply press the red button on the key fob. If the key fob is not available, insert the key into the ignition and turn.
num moo
The Aurora has a VATS ignition and either the contacts in the ignition lock are bad, the wires from the lock to the computer are broken or the VATS chip in your key is dirty or the contacts in the ignition lock is dirty and not making connection with the chip in the key.
I just had the same thing happen to my car. Mine is a 98 Intrigue. I had 4 mechanics look at it and claim nothing is wrong with the car. I had to have it hooked up to the machine thingy. It came back as my mass air flow sensor needed replaced on top of something more expensive with the transmission. I think they said a solenoid might be locking up in the transmission. So now its back to the mechanic to see what else it might be. Blah!!!!
