I have a 1989 Probe LX. 1. make sure the button on the cruise control is IN 2. press the button on the end of the stalk at desired speed. 3. setting can then be changed up/down by raising or lowering the stalk. 4. the 'speed alarm' function has nothing to do with the cruise control.

The time taken depends on the speed of the traveler. At the fastest speed possible, the speed of light, it would take about 5 minutes to get to Mercury at its closest approach. Neptune would take about 4 hours to reach. At more realistic speeds, like that of the Voyager 2 probe which now moves at a comparatively poky speed of 15km/sec, it takes years to get to the outer planets. The probe was launched in 1977 and reached Neptune in 1989.

Well the engine probably fluded, and depending on how long it sat, it probably rusted, if that is the case, then it is useless. Sorry.

Bought a used '90 Probe; a dealer repair involved adding transmission oil through the fitting that houses the speedometer cable. On the '90, that was seized; a replacement part was available only from Mazda. (The '90 has a Mazda 5 speed manual transmission.)
