How do you get the caliper off the front wheel of a 1988 Mitsubishi mighty max One of the bolts is recessed and covered with a removable red cap?

Just remove the bolt that you can get to. You then rotate the caliper on the other bolt until it will clear the disc. You then just slide the caliper off of the other bolt.

Installing brake calipers on a D21 1990 Nissan pickup truck?

Be careful to put the calipers on the correct sides. The bleeder fittings must be up when the caliper is being installed correctly. If not, you will not be able to correctly bleed the brakes. You'll need a 10 millimeter socket or wrench, an 18 millimeter or a 3/4" socket, with a half inch drive, a half inch drive socket wrench and a half inch drive breaker bar. The calipers are held with two 18 millimeter bolts on each caliper. One bolt is long and the other is short. They both bolt through the caliper. There is a third bolt this size holding the steering control arm and does not need to be undone. There is also a10 millimeter bolt holding the rubber hydraulic line to the back of the caliper. It has two copper washers, one on each side of the fitting that are bolted to the caliper.

How do you remove caliper so you can change brake pads?

on the caliper take out the bottom bolt, there are two bolts that the caliper slides on and only undo the bottom one. Then the caliper will swing up and allow access to the disc pads . You need to get a G-clamp and push the piston in the caliper back( or else it wont fit back down). put it back together and pump the brakes to set the brake piston b4 you drive or the first time you go to brake you wont have any.

While taking out screws that allow you to remove brake caliper one broke off half way is their anyway that you can still remove that so you can take off caliper?

Youll probably have to drill it out and get a new bolt to mount the caliper with.

How do you change front pads on Mazda rx8?

Jack up the car. Take off your tire. Find the bolt on the back of the caliper and take it off. This should release the caliper, pull the caliper off the disc. Now you should be able to take the pad out. Replace the pad. You'll need a special tool to reset the caliper. As the brakes wear down, the caliper gets tighter so the brakes still work. I'm not sure exactly what its called, but you can borrow one from auto zone. Follow the instructions that come with it to reset the caliper. Slide the caliper back over the disc. If it doesn't go on, you need to reset the caliper more. Put the relese bolt back in. Put your tire back on. Drive slowly and test the brakes. Hope that helps at least a little bit.
