In most states, if the vehicle is designed to be operated that way it is legal ( Jeeps are ), but all states require all safety systems to work, so seat belts, side mirrors etc all need to be present and working as well as utilized

It is legal to drive any wrangler or cj without doors in any state as doors are considered "optional equipment" from the manufacturer. You will need to check local laws regarding external mirrors though.
Dune buggies have no doors... They are legal. I would assume that if your jeep came with no doors, it would be legal.

I have driven on the LIE with no doors or side view mirrors and havn't gotten pulled over. Your best bet to be safe is purchase aftermarket mirrors and attatch them to the Windshield bracket.
