No. We have oysters in lousisana and I know they must be shucked (un-shelled) within a day or so of catch. With the oysters they will put the meat into little tupperware containers and sell them refrigerated at the grocery store. The shellfish are very volatile and spoil very quickly. Inside the shell they have a 'life' of just a day or so, outside the shell they have a 'life' of a week if kept very, very cold.

You can freeze fresh scallops in most cases. However, if you freeze scallops purchased at a store they may have already been frozen and thawed and it is not recommended they be refrozen.

You can freeze cooked scallops. Put the scallops into an airtight freezer bag or container. Place in the freezer and they should keep for 3 months.

It is okay to freeze sea scallops. If you need to clean the scallops then do so. Wrap the scallops tightly in plastic wrap freezer bag. Place the scallops in the coldest part of your freezer.
