If you marry someone from Another Country, they are no longer illegal, but a resident alien.
The above response does not answer the question. If you marry an illegal person in the U.S. it is not that simple. The government may require that person to leave the county up to 3 years.

∙ 13y agoA U.S. citizen can be sentenced to federal prison for conspiring with a foreigner to commit Immigration fraud by marrying "for papers only" and attempting to sponsor a foreigner for citizenship when the marriage is not legitimate. Simply marrying a foreigner is not a crime. Marrying a foreigner and applying for citizenship is not a crime when the marriage is legitimate. Harboring an illegal alien in your home is technically a crime under federal law, but no one has ever been prosecuted for that.
