No. You cannot get married in ANY state of the United States if you are still married in any other state of the United States. You might be able to get married in Another Country, but it would still be bigamous, illegal and, at the very least, tricky. Possibly even impossible now, with international, universalized computerized records. Do yourself and any or all of your loved ones a favor and get unmarried in Alabama first.
In response to your answer: Well I have been waiting for a divorce for 3 years. Me and my ex husband separated in January of 06. We fought each other for custody of our children for 2 years and finally came to an agreed settlement. A divorce was not granted until the child custody issue was settled due to the fact the children we very young. Now that the paperwork is all signed and done, the district Jude has resigned and our county is having battles replacing the last judge who will sign off on the divorce. You have to have it signed stamped and sealed by the judge before it becomes final. Come to find out , I haven't received my final papers and it's been 6 months now. My lawyers said the cases are backed up 3 years right now and it may take a long time before I get my final papers in. Here's the problem though: I have been with someone for a year now and we have decided to get married. We planned the wedding for July because we had no clue this was going on with the judges and we thought the papers would be back by then. So now, we really hate to cancel the wedding because we do love each other and want to be married. I have not been with my ex for 3 years and I feel like it's not fair to me that I can't move on in my life. I just wondered if we could still get married and have our happiness while we wait on the court to get straightened out. It's really not our fault.
I am sorry. It sounds like a legal nightmare. I am used to legal nightmares, I have lived in them, but in California they wouldn't involve divorce. This would have been long done. The best thing you can do, probably, is find another lawyer. I am used to incompetent lawyers, too, even those who might mean well--they are not that rare a breed.
I had not realized your question was so legally complicated. You might also try a legal board, like lawyers.com. But don't phrase your question the same way. It's going to invite silly answers, I promise you. Because, I am afraid, the possibility is simply im- anywhere. Give more detail, you will get a more sympathetic and more competent answer than, most likely, anyone here can give your complicated case. Good luck.
You file for divorce in Louisiana. It matter not where a couple was married - you are not required to file for divorce in the state where you were married. I was married in California and filed for divorce in Arizona and it posed absolutely no problems whatsoever.
