Depends how long it's been melted for. If it's been melted more than a few hours bacteria may have had time to grow in it, so you may become ill if you eat it. This is why melted ice cream should never be refrozen.

yes .... but, it would have got warm and slightly melted. so it would be moist. obviously warmth and moisture is perfect for bacteria so the bacteria will be multipling only when you freeze it. when frozen it only stops the germs multipling, but when taken out of the freezer the bacteria multiplies twice as fast. so it is deffinately not adviseable.

Salt lowers the freezing point of ice so when the temp. outside is lower then 32 degrees, the ice will still melt. When making ice cream, when the temp. is lowered, the energy given off is transfered to the ice cream making it freeze.
