Unemployment laws vary from state to state, but generally speaking, someone who quits voluntarily will most often be denied unemployment compensation. A quitter can only get benefits in my state, for example, if the nature of the work or the pay changes drastically, & the degree of change needs to meet certain criteria. There are a couple of other very specific circumstances. Each state should have a website spelling them out. But I have never heard of having a baby as an eligible reason. Having a baby is a voluntary choice, not something forced upon you like a drastic pay cut. Having a baby also does not necessitate that you quit your job.
