Can you hide a car from the repo man in California?
Sure you can hide the car. But in doing so, you are just running up the cost of the repossession which you will eventually pay. So, is it wise to hide the car that you do not own? Or would it be much better to talk to the lender and try and work something out even if you have to voluntarily have the car repossessed, thus saving yourself the repossession fees. You decide.
is it a felony in calif
I assume you mean from a repo man. It is illegal to hide a car to prevent repossession. In some states criminal charges can be filed against you. In the end they will get the car. The lender does not want to repo the car anymore than you want it repossessed. Both you and the lender loose.Even if you hide the car eventually they will find it. Don't be foolish and try to hide it…
Can you have the repo man get a car that is taken by someone who borrowed it and moved if you only have their drivers license and SSN?
If you have told the finance company you will pay on Monday but they say Friday or they will pick the car up then is it ok to hide from the repo man?
Is it illegal for a repo man not to give his name if asked by the person whose car is being repossessed?
No one has the right to enter your property to repo a vehicle. I your vehicle is out in the street, then its fair game. If you see the repo man coming but has not hooked up to your vehicle, you legally still have possession of the vehicle. Once the vehicle has made contact with the truck the vehicle belongs to him.
It depends, usually the repo man will come to the dealerships and tell them a price they'll repo a car for. The company I work for charges roughly $150 a car, but if we have to go unusually for to get the car the price goes up accordingly. Like if we have to fly out of state to get a car the dealership pays for the plane ticket plus a few hundred.
There is a possibility that you licenses could be suspended. If you are hiding the car from repossession, you technically are stealing the car. The finance company can contact DMV and have the registration revoked and report it as stolen. Give the car back. Nothing good ever came out of hiding one from the repo man. They WILL get it eventually.
Sell it under the table for a cash deal. Otherwise you can not hide it for long. They will find it. Oh and if you do sell it when it is under re-po then you can go to jail. PAY FOR THE CAR! Even if you sell the car and no longer have possession, if the finance company can't get the car back and the payments are not made, the will come after your paycheck…
