The violin is very difficult to teach yourself, so I would recommend tutor or teacher for that one. The piano is not as hard, but still at least a tad challenging. It takes a lot of concentration and patience. It depends on where you live, and if you're in high school or college. Violin is very difficult to get a good grade in, but so is the piano because it's a talent you acquire over time. It is easy to be a beginner at the piano, but very difficult to be excellent. The violin is difficult at both ends of the scale.
