Sure i have 2 400 watt rockfords connected to a 400watt kenwood mono amp. This statement made by another is true.You can hook up 20 subs to a mono amp; BUT you have to configure the speakers by impedance/ohms. if you hook two 2 ohm speakers to a 4 ohm steady amp in parallel you will soon buy a new amp. if you hook 10 speakers in series you will not even get it warm. Each speaker will also divide the available wattage and will not have a lot of power. Take it to a good shop if you don't know the formula for this. you may save your amp. BMyers Lake city, FL

to mono if your amp will allow, also this is for single voice coil. otherwise run in mono parallel to run dual voice coils.

Depends if you are building heavy bass system with quite a few subs then a mono amp would be suggested but if it is just a single sub just for a standard bass upgrade then a 2 channel amp would be fine you can still use a mono amp on one sub just remember to take into perspective the RMS rating and the Impedance on both the Subs and the Amp

How do you wire an amplifier to 2 subs?
Mono amp: hook up 2 wires to the positive speaker output, and 2 wires to the negative speaker output. Hook the positives up to the positive leads on the subs, and the negatives to the negatives. Stereo amp: one positive wire to each positive output on the amp, same with negative. Make sure you get corresponding positive and negative to each sub. Stereo amp running bridged (mono): It's normally the outter positive and negative leads, but refer to the manual. Wire same way as a mono amp, just use the bridge outputs. Mono or Bridged would be running 2 ohms if you are running single coil subs. Stereo would be 4 ohms. If you have a dual coil sub (such as Kicker Comp VR), you would want to run stereo because those subs run 2 ohm's stock do to the dual voice coils. Or 1 amp per sub unless you have a 1 ohm stable amp, which most likely you don't.

You could go with a 600 watt 2 ch amp or a 300 watt mono block amp, depends on what OHM the subs are, if they are 8 ohm you could wire them down to 4 ohm or if they 4 ohm u could wire them to 2 ohm, i have a 600.1 Boss amp and subs are wired together at 2 ohm and they BANG.

you need a duel channel amp or a mono i have a mono cause they are less expensive and you just bridge the wires. Check the RMS power of the subs. 'Max power' and 'peak power' are meaningless. You'll want the the amplifiers RMS output to match that of the subs. Buying a 1000 wat amp for 150 wat subs is a waste of money, and subs, since they'll wear out fast if overloaded. To bridge the amp, you'll hook up the subs normally but the ends where it connects to the amp bind the positive to positive and negative to negative making 2 connecting wires. Check the amps info booklet for how to connect it as it varies and to make sure the amp is bridgeable. Most are, but be sure first. While you're at it, do your self a favor and buy quality components. Cheap is cheap for a reason. As an extra, make sure to have a proper cross-over in place. 80htz is a good cutoff, with a 12 db per octave step minimum, 24 preferable and digital the best. Full stereo through subs sounds horrible.
