Can you put a dwarf hamster with a regular hamster?

Other than the hamster resembling a miniature guinea pig, they have nothing in common. A hamster is a rodent whose native habitat is a desert and the guinea pig is not a rodent. Hamsters are able to hold food in their two front paws, but guinea pigs can't do this. Hamsters actually have more individual toes than guinea pigs do. You have to periodically trim guinea pig nails, whereas you do not have to do that with hamsters.

Well I think that they are the same because they are both hamsters!!!!!!!

They are similar due to the obvious - both look like hamsters. Howvere, they have many differences such as their speed, dwarf hamsters tend to be much more frightened of human contact than syrians. In my experience, syrians are easier to be trained because of them being slightly bigger and less timid.

It depends on your preferences. When you say "regular" hamster, I assume you are talking about syrian hamsters. I have had both and personally prefer the syrians. From my own personal experiences, syrians are usually calmer and are easier to tame, but any type of hamster can be very tame, it just depends on how much they are handled. One possible turn off towards syrian hamsters that most people have is they should be kept alone in a cage. If you have multiple syrian hamsters living together, they will more than likely fight and hurt each other. Dwarfs are more social to other hamsters than this. One other difference between the two is syrians can get to be a bigger size than dwarfs. Syrians typically grow to a length of 5 to 6 inches where as a dwarf grows to about 3 to 4 inches. So which type of hamster someone should get as a pet is completely up to preference.

Actually my friend has a Dwarf Hamster and it has never bitten anyone ever even when they shove their finger into his mouth and I did that to my regular hamster he bit me! So the correct answer is a Regular Hamster. But it is actually up to you so do not ask random people on the internet.

Normal sized hamsters like Syrian CAN NOT BE housed with other hamsters. Dwarf hamsters like Russian blue, Roborovoski, and Chinese can be kept in pairs and are between 1/2 to 1/3 the size of a syrian. Here are some sites that should help you both:

My advice is DON'T go to Petsmart. I like Petco MUCH better! ;) Or, there always is the option of adopting a hammy from a animal shelter or looking on Craigslist http://www.craigslist.org/about/cities.h… for people in need of loving homes for their hamsters. :) These people also can give you more info on their care and tips, plus you would know the hamsters background.
