No, unless the barbs are really execptionally peaceful. If not, they would bully the guppies and the guppies would be dead due to nips and injuries.

I have to disagree with the answer as I have a community tank which has Guppy and Barb (Tiger & Ruby) and my guppy bullies the barbs! All are living together and I have had only one injury which was actually to my Silver Dollar and was caused by him getting wedged in between heater and glass. Hope that helps, check out Wakeybikerguy videos on YouTube for videos of my tanks.

I would highly advise against this combination. Tiger barbs are know fin nippers. And the long flowing fins of a betta are just too tempting for them to resist. The Betta will also have a hard time getting away from them as well. Tiger barbs are much faster swimmers than Bettas.

If this is an unavoidable situation then having a very large group of tiger barbs (at least 15) will help limit aggression to the other member's of the tiger barbs species, but this is not at all ideal, and I would expect that you would loose your betta within a matter of days.

Betta's do mix well with other cool fish like corydoras and a few others. But stay away from those barbs, or better yet, provide your betta his own 5 gallon home. He'll most certainly be happy having the entire tank to himself.

Barbs like water around pH7 and temps of around 75F. They would not do well in water suited to Discus which should be around pH5.6 and have temps of around 85F.

I wouldnt. Tiger barbs are notorious fin nippers and may nip the little guppy's long fins.

Can Tiger fish be with goldfish?

No it will not. However, if there are 3 or more tiger barbs, then they might get the courage to nip at its fins. And i Highly advise you not to keep tiger barbs with goldfish because tiger barbs live in warm water (about 70-85 degrees). and gold fish live in colder water. The tiger barb would ultimately die.

What should you do when your tiger barbs are starting to nip at your angelfish?

try getting more tiger barbs to keep the other ones company as when they are in large groups of maybe six or seven they are less likely to become troublesome in the tank, if this doesn't work you will have to remove the angelfish or the barbs

Can you have one of each types of Tiger Barbs together?

The Tiger Barb is a schooling fish, and needs at least five to seven other Tiger Barbs to be comfortable with, and to behave normally. They are usually fish that will develop a pecking order, and need plenty in their own school to do so. If not, they have a tendency to fin nip other slower species, so it's best to keep at least five together. More would not be harmful if you had the room. 75 gal tank with 3 platy and 5 tiger barbs can you put angelfish in?

I have seen stranger combinations. However, keep in mind you may very well lose some fins. Either the barbs on angels or platys, or angels on platy or barbs.

What kind of fish can live with tiger barbs?

Other barbs and fast swimming fish e.g. danios. I have them with rosy barbs, angelfish, gouramis, ropefish and plecos. However, if you try this be sure to keep a close eye on them. My angels actually boss them around so the barbs don't mess with them. But again its your risk, also make sure the angels and gouramis are almost adult size.

What kind of fish can live with guppies?

You can keep most tetras, some barbs(not the Tiger Barb it will shred your poor fish's fins). You can also keep a Beta fish with them but, be carful when you put one in with your Guppies because he might attack your Guppies. Hope this helps!

How many male guppies and female guppies can you keep together at the same time?

What are the characteristics of the Tiger Barb fish?

The Tiger barb is a semi-aggressive species and they will form a social order. This social order can be extended to include other fish as well. The amount of fish that you keep in your aquarium depends on the size of your aquarium and the size of your fish when they are full grown. Injured fish should be quarantined since the Tiger barbs can attack wounded fish. Fish with large or exceptionally long and flowing fins are not recommended in the same aquarium with Tiger barbs. The Tiger barb will usually become mature enough to mate when it reaches a length of about 1 inch or 2.5 centimeters long, and this will typically happen when the fish is about seven weeks old. I have successfully mated Tiger barbs. To determine if Tiger barbs are male or female, the female Tiger barb is larger than the male which has a rounder belly and they have a distinctive red nose, and above the black part of his dorsal (back) fin you can see a red line that is characteristic of the Tiger barb. The dorsal fin of the female is mainly black. In most of the fishworld, the male is usually more colorful than the female. If you want to breed freshwater Tiger barbs in your aquarium, the best method is to keep a group of Tiger barbs together and let them form their own pairs. They are egglayers. Some fish like black mollies are livebearers. When egglaying fish are ready to spawn, they usually build a bubble or foamy safe place to lay their eggs. Because fish eat their own or other fish eggs, these foamy safeplaces should be in a breeding tank or a seperate tank. Removing the adult fish after spawning is really recommended

What fish can you keep with your Tiger Oscars?

Tiger Oscars really should only be kept with Tiger Oscars. if you can find a fish that can grow to be equally large and have the temperament to survive with an Oscar then by all means try to keep them together, but Oscars will eat anything.
