Leaving Home
The parents of an non-emancipated minor have the custody and control of such minor. This means that the parents can legally decide where the minor lives until the minor reaches the age of majority (usually 18) or otherwise becomes emancipated. You can live anywhere if they give permission.
If a minor moves away from the home of his or her parents or legal guardians without their permission, that minor can be picked up by authorities as a runaway. Depending upon the state, there may be an evaluation stage in which the situation is reviewed to insure that the individual is not endangered by being returned to the home. Some states have recognized that minors that are 16 or 17 are often considered questionable as to their ability to leave home. Authorities may not want to deal with minors in this age group and some states are establishing legislation enforcing the age of majority and eliminating any questions in the eyes of the law enforcement community.
Check with your local laws for more specifics. If you are in an unsafe environment, law enforcement personnel can put you in contact with the appropriate agencies to obtain help.
A minor can move to a different state to live with an aunt as long as they have permission from their parents.
you cant move in with my aunt but you can move in to your aunt's with parental consent.
You are still a minor and they have custody so no but the laws differ depending on what state you live in. You might have a chance to petition the court about this. Either your parents or the judge will have to give you permission to move to your aunt. And it's possible they are moving because they homeless and without jobs. They can have better luck in another state.
No. If your parents give permission, yes. But they are responsible for you and your welfare until you are 18. And you have to live where they want you to live.
anywhere in ireland. i live in new york but ita always been my dream to go there:D
In California it is only legal with parental permission. Without it you would need a court order.
You yourself cannot choose to move in and live with your aunt. However, if your parents and aunt agree that you should, then you can. If they can't agree and you, as a child, are endangered in your parent's custody, then a court will decide where you will live and who your legal guardian will be.
No, if you didn't move out with permission, leaving the state doesn't make it any less wrong.
you do know you are legally able to move out so if you don't like it then just move out
Sure. They are an adult, they can figure out where to live and how they are going to support themselves.
Your aunt has no rights. If mom and dad say okay, then it is okay.
No, legally you cannot move out at 16 to live with a girlfriend. You become an adult the age of 18 in New York. Until that age your parents are responsible for you and where you live.
