Can you play offline multiplayer game for resident evil 5 for ps3?

of all i know only in story mode to play co-op is to first enter the game, then with a second controller press start. if you want the player to keep the same weapons and equipment that your account has press "B" if you want to play with equipment from another account press "A" and choose the account.

You first start up the regular campaign and once it loads up to whatever level you are on, the second controller presses start.
