I own a 87 4x4 5 speed manual trans. I had the stick shift off of it today. Inside the cab lift flooring away from the boot covers and remove screws hold ing them down. after these are removed you should see through the floor to the top of the transmission. there should be 4 bolts holding a cover plate the the shifter goes through. remove these bolt and the cover and you have the shifter out for replacement.
