this swap can be done and it will work as far as the motor is concerned. BUT the bolt holes on the block may be different or not there at all as far as accessories and such that bolt to the front of the motor if using it in a newer vehicle. if using it in an older vehicle you will have to get the harness for the efi and ignition to work or order an aftermarket harness for the older vehicle to newer wiring harness for efi and ignotion.
Regardless of the block, you have to use Vortec heads to use a Vortec intake.
Top side rear of the engine block next to the distributor.
The heads will fit the block, but the vortec intake manifold will not bolt to the old style heads.
Into the heads only.
you can as long as you use your TBI heads if you want to use the vortec heads with TBI you will need a special intake manifold or a carb manifold with a adapter to mount your throttle body to the carb manifold heres some more info TBI heads will mount to the vortec block TBI intake manifold has 12 bolts vortec intake manifold has 8 bolts
Yes , but you will need a tbi intake to fit vortec heads if you retain the 90 TBI fuel system.
Yes the heads will, But the problem is that the vortec intake won't bolt up to the pre- 90 heads. DIFFERENT BOLT PATTERN.
it will work I have vortec heads on a 72 400 small block, I had to get the heads reworked for the 400s water ports or steam port and a vortec type style intake will be needed
yes ,I have change one out with a old 350 it had lot more power . I used the old heads to with vortec intake you have to slot the four bolt holes .but it will work.
It is located at the top side rear of the engine block and right next to the distributor.
Back of the block, behind the intake manifold.
