NO. at least not in a cost effective manner. while engine swaps CAN be done... all components associated with EVERYTHING must be changed too. ie computer, transmission. wiring, all under hood accessories.... therefore... not worth doing.
The flex plate is bolted to the back of the crankshaft. It connects the motor to the torque converter in the transmission. To replace you remove the transmission and replace it.
Some (front wheel drive) cars have a flexible piece of pipe that connects the exhaust manifold to rest of the exhaust system. The length of pipe is designed to allow the engine to rock back and forth on its mounts. Without the flex joint, the movement of the engine would damage the rest of the exhaust system.
It is located between the back of the engine and the transmission. It houses the flywheel and clutch if it is a standard or the flex plate and the torque converter if it is an automatic transmission.
