I would not recommend exercising with a chest infection. Cardiovascular strain resulting from a workout can potentially worsen your symptoms. Shortness of breath, mucus production, and dehydration can all increase with a high intensity workout. Take a few days off from your exercise regimen, and give your respiratory system the time it needs to recuperate. If the symptoms persist then you know it is time to see the doctor. Feel better!
My personal feeling is that it is best to rest when sick and at most engage in light exercise. I have no scientific data to back that up. If you symptoms are more than mild then you certainly should just rest.
I have it too

Infection.
yes i have just been diagnosed with a chest infection and have been sick twice today.
If symptoms persists after the course of therapy then most likely infection has not been cleared. Other possibility is it may have triggered a heart problem. Some times lung infection can cause heart failure. Its better get it check by physician.

Actually, it could, but in general no, it isn't common. If there is an infection inside one's chest, there could definetly be those symptoms.
