Can you file bankruptcy if you are hiding your car from being repossessed?

You can, but it most definitely would not be advisable. The vehicle would have to be listed in the bankruptcy schedule as a secured debt which means it is NOT dischargeable in a BK.

If you no longer live at the address that you gave the title loan company how do they go about finding you?

Its a secret but dont you worry I will find you and hopefully while your shopping for ice cream.... Everyone leaves an electronic trail of where they live. If you pay bills then we have your address. If you shop online we have that information too. Do your kids go to school? How about the hospital, ever been there? Do you pay insurance? How about your employer, do they report your information to the IRS? There are to many ways to list but no one is impossible and hiding only gives the bank cause to not allow you to remain in the loan once we have repossessed the vehicle. Best to not hide but if you do, we'll find ya.

What is wilful concealment?

The legal definition may vary from state to state, but in general, it means intentionally hiding a vehicle when the payments are past due so a repo agent cannot find it.

Your wife wants to swap cars with someone so their car wont get repossessed is there any legal trouble you can get in to for doing this?

Yes. She would be perpetuating a fraud, by helping a person to hide the vehicle from the rightful owner (the loan company). Plus, this is all kinds of stupid. Do you really think that a person who is hiding from the repo man is going to be responsible with your car? Do you think they'll pay it if they get a parking ticket? Do you think they are going to keep up with insurance and registration? (If you are driving someone else's car, and insurance lapses, you will still get the ticket.) Do you think they are going to avoid wrecking your car?

Do you loose your liciense if you hide a car from repossession?

There is a possibility that you licenses could be suspended. If you are hiding the car from repossession, you technically are stealing the car. The finance company can contact DMV and have the registration revoked and report it as stolen. Give the car back. Nothing good ever came out of hiding one from the repo man. They WILL get it eventually.

Can a finance company threaten to have you arrested if the car is not returned?

If you are hiding the vehicle or continuing to use a vehicle that is no longer yours, you can be arrested for theft or fraud. Most lending institutions just repo the car, but if they have reason to believe that you're keeping their property from you they can go after you in criminal court.

Can you get in trouble for hiding your car until you get caught up on your payments in Texas?

Yes, it could be considered "theft by deception". When the lenders go to court to start reposession they have taken ownership of the vehicle. At that point you no longer have rights to the vehicle and if the lender claims that you are deliberately hiding the vehicle they could have a good argument for the theft by deception.
