No it cannot.
Yes , a 5 speed manual transmission was offered on the Ford Taurus if you selected the 2.5 liter four cylinder engine ( I believe the model years were 1986 / 1987 / and 1988 )
It is located on the side of the transmission.
According to the 1999 Ford Taurus Owner Guide : The AX4N automatic transaxle with the 3.4 liter V8 SHO came with ( Motorcraft MERCON- V automatic transmission fluid from the factory )
Swapping transmissions in a Taurus can be difficult because of all the changes ford made on these cars. For example 1991 and 1992 Taurus 3.0 liter transmissions are both axod-e but are not interchangeable because of electronic bulkhead connectors.Best to check with a transmission shop, most are happy to provide this information.
The Ford Taurus is a front engine, front wheel drive car. Such a configuration uses a transaxle, which makes the transmission and differential one single assembly - there is no driveshaft between the transmission and the differential.
There is NO VSS on a 3.4 Liter V8 Taurus SHO. There is only a cap on the transmission body where one USED to be. The SHO uses input from the ABS system to determine vehicle speed.
It's on the front of the transmission
Automatic transmission, on the left side (drivers side) of the transmission. Standard transmission, on the clutch peddle assembly.
I have a 1998 Mercury Mystique LS automatic w/ a 2.5 liter V6 and it takes Mercon V transmission fluid. I'm not certain if it is the same for you, you should probably consult your owners manual.
it is screwed into the side of the transmission on the front side of the van.
It's a 3.0 liter ( 181 cubic inch ) Ford V6 engine . It's an over head valve / pushrod design . I know it was used in the Ford Ranger , Ford Taurus , Mercury Sable etc.
