Are you asking this question after visiting one or before? If you are asking this question after a visit, you likely need a second opinion from another Chiropractor as they are the best source for information regarding the need for chiropractic care. If you are asking this question in general then yes! As with any healthcare provider it is important that you find someone that you can indeed trust. A referral from a friend or relative or reviews on the internet are often helpful but always check with your states' Board to find out if the person is currently licensed and in good standing.

I would absolutely trust a chiropractor to help me with a backache; for other types of medical problems, the reliability is less. I should also note that as in any profession, some people do a better job than others.

Chiropractors are people, male and female, and like any group of people you will find some that are less reliable and some that are more reliable than others. There are good and bad in every category of people, whether it is medical doctors, nurses, teachers or car mechanics.

Doctors of chiropractic were criticized and ridiculed for many years by the medical profession for being quacks and practicing medicine without a license. Much of this had to do with the fact that chiropractors were seen as taking patients away from the medical profession, and that the chiropractic profession had not taken the time of effort to define itself or prove the scientific basis of what it does. In recent years this has all changed simply because the chiropractic profession and its colleges have learned how to work as a cooperative part of the medical system. This is why you will now see so many chiropractors working in hospitals and medical clinics, and having patients referred to them by MDs who have learned to trust and respect what they do, and that their results of treatment are as reliable as any other profession.

The use of chiropractic services has doubled every 10 years for the last 30 years because the patients treated for low Back pain by chiropractors tend to be more satisfied with the results of care than from any other healthcare group. The profession is growing and strong because the results of chiropractic care is judged to be effective and reliable.
