On my 1997 Discovery trying to unlock any door other than the driver's door sets off the security alarm, so I would not count on unlocking all doors from the rear door.
Inside the fuel tank. Remove the carpet and the padding from the back cargo area of your Discovery. There will be a round hatch. Remove the cover and the fuel pump will be right there for it's removal.
no but maybe a small one but probably not.
My 2002 Tribute has the same problem, caused by central locking motor failure in the back hatch.
The back hatch may be ajar.
I have 1 key for my 98 expedition. Remote will unlock all doors & back door hatch. press once to unlock dr door an twice to open all doors an back hatch door
You open the back hatch door and pull the panel away from the latch and push down on the lever to the lock the lock will then pop open and you can shut the hatch
I have a 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback wagon and have the same problem. I climbed in the back and removed the back panel on the hatch door. Then I noticed the latch on the locking mechanism was getting stuck halfway. I wound up climbing into the back every time and moving out of the stuck position every time I wanted to open the hatch door. About a month ago a friend who borrowed my car noticed that if you pressed the unlock button on the front passenger side door it would unlock. I was very surprised when I found this out, but it worked. I'm not sure if that's a fluke with just my car, but it might work for you. Otherwise you could try climbing into the back like my first method. Good luck!
On a V8 if you a looking from the front of the car at the engine it is on the LHS, if you look closely at the engine you will see it sits about 10mm further back.
Make sure your windows are right up and the back door totally closed as the air sensors in the cabin causes the horn to blow.
There is a little switch beside the light inside the hatch. When you open the hatch, look up at the inside back of the hatch lid, where the inside light is. The light itself has a switch to keep the light off, so that you can leave the hatch open without the light beeing on. Then, beside the light (attached to it, but off to the side), there is a small lever switch that enables /disables the interior lock / unlock switch. That's so you can give someone the valet key when they are working on the car, or just parking it. The valet key won't open the glove box or the hatch. It's a security feature. -- John
my hatch handle is broke
Dude, You don't have to replace the engine like the other guy said! You do However have to remove the intake to get at the coils. Land Rover was stupid in its design on this one. You might be able to get at them if you remove the seal that runs along the back of the firewall if you have small hands. Good Luck!
