WikiAnswers does support Boolean searches, but not in the same format as Google.

The format for WikiAnswers is as follows:

OR Searches:

new car

will display search results of questions containing new OR car, with those questions containing both terms closer to the top of the list.

AND Searches:

Use quotes around each term:

"new" "car"

will display search results of questions containing only both new AND car, in any order within the question.

STRING Searches:

Use quotes around entire query:

"new car"

will display search results of questions containing "new car" exactly as you typed into the search box, in that exact order.

NOT Searches:

Use a minus sign (-) before the keyword you want to exclude from the search:

"new" "car" -Ford

will display search results of questions containing both new AND car, in either order within the question, but will exclude questions that also contain the word Ford.

Wildcard Searches:

Currently, a system is not in place in WikiAnswers for Wildcard searches.

What kind of searching technique is used in Google search?

Searching links to other websites that will tell you the answer(like WikiAnswers) or show a website that will relate what you are looking for.

Why are people typing random things on WikiAnswers and then submitting them?

The people who do that think that WikiAnswers is more like a search engine from the WikiAnswers database, so they type in what they would in a search engine, not knowing they are asking a question and not searching for a question like they would in a search engine.

What does a 1996 Pontiac sunfire convertible look like?

Try searching for it in Google Images.

Why can't people just type this stuff into Google?

Google is a search engine for keywords, not for questions.Although searching for a topic on Google would provide a load of information on that topic, much of it can be overwhelming for some folks. On WikiAnswers, users can ask specific questions and receive a specific answer, without all of the extraneous information. You can search questions on google, it will just come up with a bunch of websites like ask.com and wiki answers.

What if WikiAnswers doesn't have the answers?

There is alot of questions that Wikianswers CAN'T answer, like "How old is my father?" Some questions might just be un-known. Look on Bing or Google to help

Why don't people search Google before asking questions on WikiAnswers?

You have to remember that many people here do not understand how Search Engines like Google, and therefore cannot use such sites. If everyone used Google or sites like that instead of asking us, it would partially defeat the object of WikiAnswers. The above is not entirely true, because there are certain answers that cannot be found by using a simple google search. However, most of the questions on WikiAnswers have terrible grammar and can just be googled. It's pretty sad.

Is there a picture anywhere of what a Black box flight recorder looks like?

Why should you enter a question at Answers.com?

That's a good question. Maybe because you don't like Yahoo Answers... Maybe because they shut down Google Answers... Maybe you just like the WikiAnswers system better... Whatever reason... How do you remove WikiAnswers from your search?

To remove a site, or WikiAnswers site, from search results in google. Just type the search terms, Like this -site:wiki.answers.com "Search Term" without the quotation marks around your search term. That tells Google that you don't want the search results to include wiki.answers. Or whatever site you put for Google to search.

Who is the narrator of A Farewell to Arms?

Ernest Hemingway. If your resorting to wikianswers for a question like this, you may want to Google it first. But, I assume its to late for that.

Staining porch Wikipedia?

Are you thinking that you are typing those words into Google? This is WikiAnswers, not Google. If you would like to go to Wikipedia, either go to wikipedia.org or go to Google and type in those words to find the Wikipedia article you want.
