The best thing to do is find the 2 adjustment screws for the clutch which are located attached to your clutch lever housing and on the clutch cable. Turn them outwards (lossen them) so that it tightens the cable and spreads the clutch plates apart, remember that you should end up with a gap (about the thinckness of a nickel) where the clutch lever and the housing rest as not to have your clutch partially engaged. If that is not enough and the bike wants to surge forward a bit then just adjust one of the screws (usually the one on the cable) until the clutch completely disengages the plates and the bike should not surge forward at all.

Sounds like the centrifugal clutch isn't engaging or the cable is broken. I just replaced my clutch the other day. Try to loosen the screws that hold the motor "head" to the shaft and see if you can shove it farther into the head. Sometimes it will slowly pull away and the cable won't engage the clutch housing. If not then you can remove the head and check the cable to see if it's broken. If the cable is fine then you will have to partially disassemble the head to get at the Clutch. Not too hard if you still have the parts break down. I went on-line to the company and found mine. Easy way is to take it in and have them do it. Also make sure the string housing is bolted tight and not just slipping. You might just take the string housing off and see if you can see the mount turn.

there will be a cable coming out of the drivers side firewall (the dash in front of the driver) it will go to a lever on the engine just above the gear housing. the gear housing is also on the drivers side, the cable will end with a bolt and nut attached to the lever you adjust it buy taking the nut and bolt off of the lever and turning the bolt tighten for a clutch that is slipping loosen for a clutch that isn't releasing the gears to shift

NEUTRAL is the state in which the motorcycle's gear is NOT engaged. You can't LOSE NEUTRAL, but you can get frustrated trying to put the motorbike in NEUTRAL under the following conditions: 1. Remove the slack from your clutch cable by twisting the knurled knobs where the cable enters the metal guide JUST BEFORE THE CLUTCH LEVER HOUSING. As an alternate, you can also lessen the slack on the clutch cable in the tension adjustment joint, which should be located a bit less than a foot from where the other end of the cable enters the clutch housing and the engine. 2. If No.1 above fails, have your clutch "basket" checked. This entails overhauling the clutch side of the engine. Replace the clutch plates and/or the clutch springs if you find that they are worn or too soft. 3. Check that you are using the correct engine oil. If you are using fully synthetic engine oil on a motocross bike that does NOT require it, then go back to using the correct oil. Synthetic oils may be too "slippery" for your clutch.

It sounds like it is the clutch cable. I have a 94 Nissan Sentra and the clutch cable just broke. I have replaced one on an older Nissan, but it is still difficult for me to do on the 94. It is really hard to get the broken cable out.
