In cars manufactured before 1980, the specs for ATF and Power Steering Fluid were much the same. Now, the specification between PS fluid and Dexron VI are very different and substituting one for the other can damage the transmission.

I have a 2000 Tacoma 4x2 and it uses Dextron II. Pull out the dipstick where you check the trans fluid level and it should be stamped on it.
You can not that truck has rack and pinion steering.

The 2004 Tacoma four-wheel-drive recommended engine oil is any SAE a certified 10 W-40 weight motor oil. A heavier oil can be used in extreme climates.
I don't know about the Tacoma - but, if it helps, in the Highlander it is located at the very bottom edge of the dashboard in the area of the steering column.
