it won't work (at least it didn't work for me), the cake came out with a horrible texture... it looks more like a souffle, i bake some cupcakes and they are sooooooo heavy am guessing the margarine behaives different than oil
no a carrot is a vegetable
yes
When a cake recipe calls for shortening, you can substitute it with butter or margarine for a richer flavor, but the texture may be slightly different. Vegetable oil can also be used, but it will change the cake's consistency and moisture level. If you have Crisco (a brand of shortening), it's the best direct substitute. Overall, the choice depends on the desired flavor and texture of the cake.
YesA different answer:Butter is a major ingredient in pound cake and the primary source of flavor. Substituting margarine for butter might produce a cake, but it would be an imitation of a pound cake, just as margarine is an inexpensive imitation of butter.
Its a carrot cake served in ugoslavia. :)
You can make carrot cake with or without nuts. If you want them, pecans and walnuts work well.
yes margarine is lighter
Spreading out the hot carrot cake increases the surface area of the carrot cake. When more of the carrot cake comes into contact with the surrounding air, more heat can travel from the carrot cake to the surrounding air. In this way, the carrot cake cools faster.(This is the exact answer! Did lots of research to find this much information!)
Butter.A further response:Since margarine was developed as an inexpensive substitute for butter, butter is also a good substitute for margarine. Depending on exactly what recipe you are making, other possible substitutes might be lard or chicken fat (schmaltz), or a neutral tasting vegetable oil such as canola oil. Each type of fat will produce a slightly different baked product.
Of Course! One very quick and easy way of making a lovely moist cake without eggs, oil, butter or margarine is to just blend it with a block of silken Tofu (soft or firm). And then cook it as per instructions. Saves on the calories too. Otherwise, just melt the same amount of butter or margarine to replace the oil, and add that.
Butter or lard can be used instead of shortening in cakes. Some types of neutral-tasting oils, such as vegetable oil or canola oil, can be used in many cake recipes.
