Yes, you can wash 100% wool, but you should wash it very gently by hand in cold water with a tiny bit of wool friendly detergent.
Fill your tub or sink with cold water adding a dash of detergent.
Gently push your article down into the water, lift up and squeeze gently, and repeat. (Never treat roughly or scrub even if stained).
You can change the water if it gets dirty but always use the same temperature as you already used as a temperature change can cause felting.
Rinse well the same way as you washed but without detergent and in the same temperature water.
Lay it on a dry towel, roll it up and gently squeeze out any excess water.
Then lay your item flat to dry and NEVER tumble dry it as the heat, moisture and agitation can cause felting.
You don't. Have it dry cleaned or it will shrink.
It is advisable to hand-wash pure wool, just to be absolutely safe. However, many modern washing machines have a "wool" cycle which is gentle enough to handle pure wool. Place the garment in a mesh washing bag (usually found in the laundry section of a supermarket) and use Wool Wash. It should be fine.
Regardless of its origin, you can find the wool content on the label.

You could machine wash it but I would recommend washing it gently by hand based on the fact that it could very easily shrink.
The resulting felt would not be as a pattern predicted that requires 100% wool. Nylon does not felt.
