5000 lbs mine says...its a 1990
There are some speculation about the tow weight. The specifications on the Tahoe are 6000 pounds towing capacity for this vehicle.
have the transmission checked ASAP
I own a 1997 Tahoe LT 4X4, and that towing capacity is rated for 6500 lbs. However, mine has the optional tow package.
The Ford F250 is a 3/4 ton truck and the F150 is a 1/2 ton truck. The main purpose for these differences, is pointing out the towing capabilities for each truck. The major difference between the F150 and F250 is size and power. The F250 has a more powerful drivetrain and can tow and haul more cargo.
check your fuse box under the hood i believe they have fuses for tow package that are not in place when you purchase the vehicle
The only SUVs with such a rating were the Excursion (which as built on an F250 chassis), and the Hummer H1 (which could tow, it didn't do so well towing at highway speeds). Honestly, if you're looking to tow this kind of weight, a 3/4 ton pickup is much more adequate.
If you want to tow a boat buy a ford f250 or f350 if you want the most power go with the f350 that is the most reliable.
Depending on the year of the truck. Trucks with towing packages can tow up to about 8000 pounds if they four wheel drive. Base models with two wheel drive can only tow about 6000.
If you have the tow package it should just hook up at the rear tow plug. Check owner's manual. If you don't have one copy and paste link below; www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owners_manuals
will 1996 f250 rims fit a 1999 f250 bolt pattern
The size of the Engine, Cab, and bed determine the towing capacity of a truck. You have listed none of these so it is impossible to tell you it's rating. I suggest you go to the web page listed below and click on "Tow Rating". Locate your truck to see what it can tow.
