What is the purpose of setting aims?
The purpose of setting your aim on something or setting your goals is that without some type of goal you have no drive in any specific direction in life. We all should at some time set some goals for our lives. Setting one goal is fine but things can change and you need to progress in another direction rather than spin your wheels or sit there dazed. To set a goal is to look to the future. Where will I be in twenty years? What will I want to be doing or have in thirty years. You need to have something to train for, prepare for, and most importantly, pray for. Setting goals for short term things is just as important. If you have a science project due in three weeks, it would be good to set your aim on the end project and set goals to acheive along the way. What do you need to have accomplished on day three of the project? What do you need to have ready on day 8 of the project? With goals you can do things in an orderly fashion and keep to schedule. With aim, you will know what you want and what you have to strive for.
How often should a marketing plan be revisited?
As often as needed...(old answer but still true) How often you come back to your "marketing plan" should really depend on your business plan. There are many different types of business plans, some people actually confuse their marketing plan with the business plan and you should understand the difference to start with. Your business plan should be an overall strategy of how your business should be ran and how that will translate into revenue and how you plan on achieving this. Of course part of this overall strategy should include marketing, but this is only one part of the document. When you are setting up your business plan you should set targets, goals and other metrics that should be measured and workers or employees should be made accountable to. These are the guidelines that should be used to tell how often you need to go back to the drawing board on your marketing plan or at least when a tweak is needed. Checking your effort compared to the return you are seeing on lead captures, sales or whatever other metric is important to your business should be measured at least weekly to assure that you are on track an not just spinning your wheels.

They realize that they may be charting virgin territory, and they depend on us to be "in the know" and provide them with the "inside scoop." They get pretty upset when they feel they have spun their wheels getting something done, and we knew all along a better way, but never made the suggestion.6. Information"Tell me, show me - everything!" Customers need to be educated and informed about our products and services, and they don't want us leaving anything out! They don't want to waste precious time doing homework on their own - they look to us to be their walking, talking, information central.
