It's easy. On the bottom part of the radiator follow the outlet hose until you reach the metal hose, there you should see two bolts, remove them and there's the thermostat. Replace the thermostat and make sure it's the same way you took it won't work correctly.

i also have a 93 celica gt and my was doing the same thing i could start it only with my foot to the floor and the problem with mine was stuck mechanical lifters so you should take the valve cover off and check the lifters
