pop the hood. on the drivers side firewall there is a white container with a black cap. that is your master cylinder reservoir. there is a full mark on the side of it. fill with appropriate fluid. the cap should tell you what kind to use.

The Transmission Fluid Check bolt is in the front right part of the Transmission Pan. This is in regards to a 1998 Chevy Cavalier (since I have one myself) and may not be correct for any other year. This bolt is just to check the fluid level is correct and will not drain the entire Transmission fluid reservoir, you must remove the pan to remove the transmission fluid.

Any fluid would cause the fluid low light to come on in a Chevy cavalier. Fluids such as brake line fluid, power steering, transmission, and quite possibly oil.
