Speed sensor on rear of transmission where speedometer drive used to be. If ecm receives no speed data transmission, it will send no shift signal.
we had to replace the speed sensor in mine and it corrected the problem with the speedometer and the shifting. Good luck
I had a problem shifting my suburban out of park. It ended up being the brake switch, it tells the transmission that you are pushing down the brake.
according to the owners manual this could be related to a problem with the ABS. I have the same problem and am looking for a diy solution. also from the owners manual the ABS controls the transmission , and my transmission is shifting roughly, which is what I noticed before I noticed that the speedometer wasn't working.
There is no fuse just for the speedometer. If the speedometer is not working, you may have a problem in the dash gauges cluster, or a vehicle speed sensor problem.
Cruise will NOT work if the speedometer has a problem
If a 1992 Honda Civic's speedometer is erratic, the problem could be the speedometer cable. It could also be the speedometer sensor malfunctioning. Check both components carefully.
There are several problems caused boy a bad speed sensor. Among them are, higher rev before shifting, erratic speedometer, harde braking during coasting.
I have the same exact problem! Please advise at tbarber@invisiblehunter.com when you know the solution. Precisely the asme exact issue!
There might be a problem with the cable.
check the wiring to the speedometer. Check the sending unit as well. If the problem is internal then the speedometer will have to be replaced.
Most likely speedometer cable
When you have problem shifting gears, you transmission has a problem.
