are the radiator fans turning on when it gets hot I just purchased a 1994 lhs and had the same problem. I believe the main problem for me was the water pump but the heads were slightly warped and the gasket may have been seeping a little. Took to Napa and had the heads checked and shaved down for $120 and bought head gasket kit at Oreilly's for just under $150. This solved all overheating problems for me. Good luck. Also had to run a hotwire from the fan to the fuse box so the fans would stay on, they were not working.
Low coolant, failed water pump, restricted radiator, inoperative radiator fan, thermostat,
Make sure the thermostat is installed correctly, then there are other factors to consider. Your radiator may be plugged or corroded ( if you run anything but the correct mix of coolant and water you will have this), The radiator fans may not be engaging, the water pump may be bad, you could have a head gasket failure.
fan relay or thermostat
The thermostat is under the housing that the upper hse and rad cap attach to. To change the thermostat you have to remove upper intak plenumn to access t-stat housing.once the thermostat is installed do the system need to be purged.
If you do not have any external leaks, a head gasket is most likely.
i have replace the thermostat, checked the fans, filled with water and it is still overheating. Very often, the waterpump leaks and stops working only years after it was last replaced. Coolant is probably not flowing from the engine to the radiator to be cooled.
radiator fan, head gasket,
what are the symptoms of a bad thermostat on a 1997 Chrysler Sebring Lxi what are the symptoms of a bad thermostat on a 1997 Chrysler Sebring Lxi
I had a similar issue one day, my friend mechanic advised that the thermostat had siezed, he removed the thermostat, cut the spring and re installed it, I have used it now for 4 months with no issues to date. Please check with a technician, as I reside on an Island that is constant 84 degrees and the engine does not really need a thermostat. As to update this, I have now used this car without the spring in the thermostat for nearly 2 years and without any issues, temp remains well below half way mark
We're is the thermostat located
The thermostat on a Chrysler 300m 3.5L is located at the end of the lower radiator hose, near the oil filter.
Cooling fan not working? Thermostat not opening? Plugged radiator? Water pump not working? Defective radiator cap? you have to bleed the thermostat
