Head torque sequence for a 2002 3800
Need more info. Torque specs. for what?
horsepower : 200@ 5200 rpm torque : 225@ 4000 rpm
Ineed the torque sequence and tightening specs for a 92 GM 3800 intake.
Ignore the specs. Work inside to out, tightening a little at a time. Should take you 6 or 7 runs through. Make them tight, but dont force them. I tightened to specs and had horrible leaks. With this method, perfect.
yes all engine block components are compatible between 3800 series I and series II, the only difference between engines is the metal composition of the block, and a new design of stock piston.
Advertised horsepower is--- light duty is 165 HP @ 3800 RPMs, torque is--260ft LBS @ 2400 RPMs. .....................................is----heavy duty is 165 HP @ 3800 RPMs. Torque is--255ft. LBS @ 2800 RPMs. Both engines have a 4-barrel carb. This is a 1978 350 CID small block chevy.
I'm pretty sure this is that same 3800 motor that gm uses in my mom's 2001 buick Le Sabre. Her intake was the fiberglass resin plastic and the torque specs are 89 INCH pounds. Make sure you use the right tightening sequence too. 89 inch pounds is for the upper intake or Plenum. 136 inch pounds is the torque specs for the lower intake
Around 7 ft/lbs
Any other GM 3800 Series II will interchange.
The 3800 II is the battle axe of the 90s to 00s lineup. The engine is not as much well constructed as it is strongly constructed. The engine is fairly reliable, its no Honda D/B series but as far as a GM engine it is one of the more reliable engines they have made. Also considering how many models used the 3800 II, replacement parts are cheap and common.
Both engines will bolt to the same trans, and fit in the same car, however the electrical systems and computers are different for both...to swap engines you will have to replace the entire engine wiring harness and computer
