philosophy as contributed a great deal to the society.right from the conception of philosophy in the early greek period philosophers like thales, anaximander, and anaximenes tried searching for the primary element or the organizing principle of the universe.thales held that it was water, anaximander calls it the apeiron, anaximenes postulated air as the primary substance.Socrates brought the attention of philosophy from the speculative exercise of cosmology to man and postulated philosophic wisdom as an important tool in social engineering.knowledge he said his virtue, the attainment of knowledge liberates man from evil which in turn leads to happiness.plato on his part sees the attainment of justice in the division of the state into the class of the guardian, the artisan, and auxilliary to achieve justice which will in turn lead to the greatest virtue of all.with this we can see that philosophy can be made to deal clearly with social problems.
