Could it have something to do with the ecm ground?

Constant ground signal from the ECM, or injector could be faulty and stuck open.

The ECM is supposed to ground the injector to make it work. Either the ECM is bad or something that tells the ecm to fire the injector is bad. TAke it to a mechanic.

It could mean multiple things. It could be that they smeel something (everything leaves a scent so their probably sniffing out something else), there could be an animal under ground that has caught there attention, It could just be sniffing, etc.

Do you have spark at the coil? If not it could be the coil but I would put my money on a faulty ecm. Happened to mine and the repaired ecm fixed it.

ECM will not cause A/C to not work properly. some of the earlier mitsubishi's had a ground wire for the A/C going through the ECM. and i have ran into the circuit in the ECM that grounds it go out causing the A/C to not work on a few diffrent cars

Sounds like the ECM is toasted.

Answer Failsafe means that the ECM has snesed a problem and put the tranny into 2nd or 3rd gear to limp home. Could be wiring, solenoid failure, bad car battery (yes bad battery) or faulty alternator. This assumes that the ECM /PCM (ie: computer) is OK. Alslo could be a bad ground from tranny to chassis.

i have a 2001 Chevy lumina and i am wondering if the ECM is going out, sometimes it will die when i am driving but starts right back up, sometimes it will die and not start up after several hours of sitting, then it starts up. Could this be the ECM?

Yes, The ecm sends a ground to the starter relay which in turns sends current (power) to the starter relay or moving pole shoe, however yours is equipped. The ecm receives a signal from the transmission position sensor so that the ecm knows whether the vehicle is in neutral or park. Thus only sending ground to relay when the proper shift position is attained.

The ECM seldom goes bad, it can but it rarely does. A faulty crank sensor could give you those same symptoms. Check all other possibilities before you condem the ECM.

This is something typically programmed into the ECM, and you would need to have that removed from the programming.
