Take it back to whoever did the engine job. They may have not connected the speed sensor connection properly.
Having the speedometer jump and the engine stall in the 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo could be a problem with the idle and the transmission. The transmission slipping can cause the speedometer to jump.
Possibly your speed sensor. My speedometer would bounce around & then soon after it felt like my transmission was slipping. Turns out the speed sensor controls the upshift in your transmission.
chances are the clutches are worn out and need to be replaced, so your looking at a transmission overhaul.
A speedometer that loses response time but gets up to the speed of the vehicle probably has a problem with a gear slipping inside the speedometer mechanism. This sometimes happens in older vehicles. The speedometer cable may have to be replaced to fix this problem.
if it has a clutch, the clutch needs replaced. if it's an automatic, it needs to be overhauled by a dealership or competent transmission shop.
If the gears are slipping on a 1995 Honda Civic then the transmission is worn. The transmission will either soon need to be replaced or repaired.
Hi, the trans front pump bolts have become loose. but if it has been slipping for a while then tigntening the bolts will not help you will have to replace it.
why is my manual transmission slipping on my 1999 chev cavalier
Once it starts slipping the clutches are already damaged. Slipping is caused by low hydraulic pressure to the clutch assembly. Low hydraulic pressure can be caused by: Low transmission fluid level, blocked or partially blocked transmission fluid filter, worn or cracked o-ring seals in the transmission valve body or worn or damaged hydraulic pump. Unfortunately, if it's anything except the filter or fluid level, it requries that the transmission be removed, rebuilt and replaced. While you can sometimes get by with just replacing the affectd part, other internal components are also worn and the transmission won't last long if you don't take care of everything.
You may forgot to pour some fluid in the differential of your transmission.
if their is no slipping or any other transmission issues and it is just only the loss of overdrive try replacing the brake light switch
The gearing may be bad, the tranny may be slipping, or the fluid and filter may simply need to be replaced. A bad filter and low or bad fluid can cause slipping or lack of shifting.
