Unlikely. The temperature is not regulated per say by anything to do with electronics other than the cooling system Senser/Fan system... The thermostat is most likely your problem. Possibly an air pocket in the coolant, or, maybe a pinched hose, or plugged radiator, but it will not be the CPS.. Max420
Chances are not the temp sensor. It could be a thermostat or a hose that has a leak. And the one you dare not want it to be is a crack head.
It could, along with numerous other things.
The coolant temp. sensor could be bad....or the thermostat could be stuck shut.....there are a few things it could be actually
could be several things. 1st is the car actually overheating. If so then it could be a stuck thermostat or a bad water pump. If it is not really overheating my bet would be a falty temp sensor. The temp sensor is what actually tells the light to turn on.
Overheating from the engine wears down the sensor and will go out when it gets to hot , after awhile it could be completely degraded to where it wont work anymore
If it's overheating only in town, but running fine down the highway, it's probably that your radiator fan isn't coming on. Could be a bad sensor, relay or fan motor.
take it to a local shop that reads codes for free... could be a sensor is out
If it's overheating, it cold be thermostat, radiator or possibly other problems. If it's not overheating it could be the coolant level sensor.
The coil pack could be bad. More commonly the crankshaft sensor could be bad. When this sensor is bad the system cant tell where the cam location is and will no know when to send fire to the spark plugs.
you could have abad temp sensor
According to my mechanic, it has something to do with the cam shaft position sensor overheating.
depending on engine size it could be in 4 different places. 2.5 liter is behind cruise control actuator.
