I have the same problem with no codes I'm going towards the ECT sensor ..My plugs are wet gas fouled
Check the throttle position sensor (TPS)
pull apart the carborator and clean it of dirt and debris pull apart the carborator and clean it of dirt and debris
3 components of combustion are spark, fuel and compression. You think you eliminated 2 of them, leaving fuel. Spray starting fluid into the throttle body, then crank it and see if it starts temporarily. If so lack of fuel is right. Check the cold start fuel injector. I have a '91 with same problem. Removed the cold start fuel injector, which was VERY gummed up, sprayed it off with throttle body cleaner, re-installed it, engine started perfectly. You can find this on about the middle of the throttle body housing. It will have a small fuel rail and electrical connector.
You may have dropped a valve. Run a compression check and if you get 0 compression on one or more cylinders, you need to at least pull the heads, then you can see what else needs to be done.
TPS is always located on the throttle body. Even on vehicles equipped with rheostat throttles.
I, too, would like to know the answer! I have a 1993 Polaris Trail Boss ATV with the 250 cc engine... it tends to backfire when letting off the throttle.
idol air throttle sensor
Adjust your timing
The timing is off.
Check the throttle position sensor (TPS)
It's inside the throttle body. Follow the air intake from the air filter back to the part that sits on top of the intake manifold... that's the throttle body. HOWEVER... Most often, idle problems are not caused by the throttle body. Run a diagnostic scan and possibly a compression test to see what's going on. You'll most likely have other problems.
No, It sounds like your timing is off or your firing order is wrong.
START WITH THE BASIC THREE STEPS... FUEL, FIRE , COMPRESSION.. CHECK THE FUEL FILTER, THEN THE THROTTLE BODY MAY NEED TO BE CLEANED...THAT IS TYPICAL PROBLEMS WITH THEM
The motor chokes at full throttle because either the exhaust valves are bad and cause the motor to loose compression at full throttle or the carb has an air leak.
Remove all spark plugs.Insert compression gauge in cylinder #1Hold throttle open and crank for 5 seconds.Record reading.Repeat on all cylinders.Remove all spark plugs.Insert compression gauge in cylinder #1Hold throttle open and crank for 5 seconds.Record reading.Repeat on all cylinders.
take off throttle body and clean it with throttle body cleaner.
Yes, if the throttle plate is stuck closed.
