The most important Muslim practices are the 5 pillers of Islam.
The 5 Pillers of Islam are the 5 obligations that every Muslim must satisfy in order to live a good life according to Islam.
The five pillars of Islam are:
1. The Creed - It is basically a statement of faith that there is one God, Allah, and one prophet of God, Muhammad. It is sometimes repeated over and over during group worship and is a summary of their faith in a few words.
2. Payer - Devout Muslims prayer 5 times a day, always facing towards Mecca, and bowing in a certain posture. Most times the creed is mentioned in these prayers and it is a reminder throughout the day to stay focused on spirituality.
3. Fasting - It is considered a way to gain and exercise self control and also a sacrifice made for Allah. Sometimes, this appears to be a personal choice to when and what will be fasted but there is the month of Ramadan in which devout Muslims will fast for the whole month during the daylight hours. Food, drink and intercourse are the main things abstained from but individuals may make additional sacrifices by giving up other things that are important to them as well.
4. Charity - Muslims are expected to share wealth and be generous with what they have. Some Islamic nations collect a certain type of tax that is based on this pillar of their faith but it is also largely based on either the individual's or a group of worshipper's desire to give.
5. The Pilgrimage to Mecca - All Muslims are strongly encouraged to make a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their lifetime. This can be done at any time but the month of Hajj is considered to be an especially good time to go.
