∙ 13y agofirst of all you can not have the square of a 3bit number in 3 bits. The result would have 6 bits in general

D=a+CarryC and
E=CarryD
where '+' i mean the addition , not the OR operation
and ac for example means AND operation
and for the carries, they take the value '1' if two or more one's took place in the addition

Another way to see it is that you add the number with a left shifting. Be careful, only when you have '1' in the collateral possition
