Further digging reveals that only one document supports the alleged visit. Written in the 1930's for publication and for money, when he was both famous and respected . He did have a half-brother who lived there and a nephew was born there. The sister-in-law wrote the story, but nothing else backs it up.

In 1912-13 Hitler was actually in Austria, in a refuge. The hostels kept careful records, and don't record the 5-month absence required to support the 1930's story. They do record his other absences, which unfortunately don't tie in. Furthermore, an eyewitness places him in the hostel in February 1913, right in the middle of his alleged trip to Liverpool. Finally Hilter, though he often mentioned the British never made mention of this period in Liverpool. I am sure it would have come up, given the vast amount of spouting that he bestowed upon the world.
