John Paul Jones and Benjamin Franklin developed a close friendship at some point. It is unclear if this happened while Franklin was acting as ambassador to France and John Jones was there, or if the friendship was a result of the time spent there. A further connection is that both men were members of the same Masonic Lodge in the United States.
Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster-General of the United States and is the reason we have a US Postal System today. Before that, you had to send your mail by a separate courier, rather than everyone sending it the same way through the same system.
Samuel Adams and John Adams were second cousins which means they had the same great-grandfather and grand-mother.Their fathers, Samuel, Sr. (1689-1748), and John, Sr. (1691-1761), respectively, were first cousins.Their paternal grandfathers were brothers John Adams (1661-1702) and Joseph Adams (1654-1737), respectively.Their shared great grandparents were Joseph Adams (1626-1694) and Abigail Baxter (1634-1692).
Benjamin Franklin's stove was not the first, and there a number of much earlier designs. Which of these was the first stove depends on what is meant by the word stove. There are masonry and ceramic stoves that were older in Europe, and the Kang bed stove in China. But these did not provide the same utility as the Franklin stove. Today, the original Franklin stove would probably not be called a stove either, but rather a fireplace insert. The stoves sold as Franklin stoves are not the same design, and were developed by people who came after Franklin.
